Function meets form – sustainable design for modern laboratory work

The new demonstration and application laboratory at C. Gerhardt combines spatial clarity, modern design, and sustainable technology and materials to create a forward-looking laboratory environment. The architecture follows a clear functional principle: open room structures promote communication and teamwork, while ergonomic workstations and precise processes make everyday laboratory work efficient and safe.

Köttermann’s planning expertise has created a laboratory landscape that meets the highest standards of design, function, and sustainability. Even in the concept phase, the laboratory was developed in such a way that it can be adapted to changing requirements at any time; an important prerequisite for C. Gerhardt’s dynamic equipment and application operations.

The laboratory serves as a working environment for application development and training, as well as a stage for the manufacturer’s equipment. Central media supply from the ceiling, mobile tables in variable heights, and well-positioned work zones enable quick adaptation to changing workflows. This creates a flexible environment that can be adapted to new experiments as well as international customer demonstrations.

Sustainability is an integral part of the concept. The modern walk-in Köttermann laboratory fume cupboards actively contribute to resource conservation through digital control and efficient technical solutions. Likewise, steel is a material that stands for durability and resistance.

Laboratory facilities that can be used for decades not only contribute to safety, but also represent a sustainable investment.

The result is a laboratory that, beyond its technical equipment, expresses a clear design philosophy—robust, functional, and future-oriented. Or, as laboratory manager Björn Krüger describes it:
“The new laboratory is impressive as a coherent overall package in which all aspects fit together perfectly.”
